Welcome to the Department of Justice, Diversity, and Interdisciplinary Humanities (JDIH)!
JDIH serves as home to a broad array of minors that are critical to understanding the world we live in. We offer a variety of courses in the Integrative Core, along with minors in five areas — Africana studies, gender and sexuality studies, peacebuilding and social justice, philosophy, and religious studies. JDIH is also the home of three of Mount Union’s annual “signature” experiential learning opportunities, which are open to all Mount Union students: the Social Responsibility spring break excursion to the Dominican Republic, the Wilderness Trip to the Adirondacks in August, and Spring Lobby Weekend in Washington, D.C. held every March.
Each of our five minor programs is an excellent complement to any major program of study at Mount Union. Courses in JDIH will open new doors to meaningful careers and life pathways, enrich your engagement with the world, enhance your ability to address critical issues in society, and deepen your understanding of human experience. A good interdisciplinary minor enhances any major area of study, making you stand out on the job market or among admissions to graduate school.
If you are interested in constructive discussion of difficult and controversial issues, learning about new cultures and ways of thinking, and improving your local and global communities, check out our minors and course offerings! Please feel free to contact me or any of our JDIH faculty with questions or inquiries.
